What makes Hawaiian rolls sweet?

The secret ingredient in fluffy, sweet Hawaiian rolls is pineapple juice! Hawaiian sweet rolls make a delicious French toast,  sandwiches and can be used in other meals.

Ingredients

One package of 12  King’s Hawaiian Rolls – or you could use a generic version

1/4 cup of  unsalted butter

1/2 cup of brown sugar

One teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1/3 cup of heavy cream

Three tablespoons of maple syrup or honey

1/2 cup of chopped pecans

Glaze

1/2 cup of powdered sugar

One tablespoon of milk

Optional ingredients: if you want to make these even more decadent, add nuts like pistachios or walnuts.  You could add cream cheese or a caramel sauce instead of the glaze.

Equipment

Small Saucepan

Spatula

Pastry Brush

Baking dish

Small bowl for mixing up the glaze.

Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. mix butter, heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup in a saucepan over low heat.  When the butter melts, the mixture should turn into a sauce.  Add the pecan pieces at the end and mix.

3. Place Hawaiian Rolls in a baking dish. Cut a cross in each Hawaiian Roll.  Brush the leftover butter sauce over the rolls with a pastry brush.

4. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.  While the sticky buns are in the oven, prepare your glaze by mixing milk and powdered sugar in a small bowl.

5. Remove sticky buns from the oven and drizzle glaze on top.  Serve warm.
