Brunch might be my favorite meal of the day!  You can sleep and enjoy your favorite breakfast foods with your friends and family!  Breakfast and brunch foods are fun, and getting creative with a brunch menu is easy!  I love enjoying these mid-morning meals for birthdays, graduation parties, and during the Christmas and holiday seasons.

What is a Churro?

Churros are sweet pastries that are popular in Spanish-speaking countries.  They are a fried dough that is rolled into cinnamon and sugar prior to cooking.  Hawaiian Rolls make delicious French toast because they are naturally sweet and have a fluffy texture.

Ingredients Needed:

One package of 12 Hawaiian Rolls

1/2 cup of melted butter

1/3 cup of sugar

Three teaspoons cinnamon

1 cup of milk

Six large eggs

One teaspoon of vanilla extract

Recipe note: You can substitute brioche bread if you can’t find King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls.

Equipment

Mixing bowl

Casserole Dish

Whisk

Cooking Spray

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Mix cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl and melt the butter.

3. Cut each Hawaiian roll in half.

4. Brush each Hawaiian roll half with butter and coat it with cinnamon and sugar.  Set aside.  You can melt the butter in a bowl or a large skillet.

5. whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl.

6. Dip each Hawaiian roll half into the egg mixture for 3-5 seconds, then set each piece in a casserole dish coated with cooking spray.

7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the Hawaiian bread is golden brown.

8. Serve while still warm.

Add toppings such as whipped cream, maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, strawberries, blueberries, honey, or raspberries.  You can also choose to drizzle chocolate or caramel sauce on top.

Storage:

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.  You can also store pieces in the freezer.  Reheat in the microwave.
