This watermelon salad recipe features watermelon paired with an array of summer berries!  I love this flavor combination!  The lemon basil dressing is the perfect finishing touch!  I see watermelon-feta cheese salads or watermelon salads with lime all over the interwebs, and I wanted to come up with something different.

Ingredients

For the Fruit Salad:

4 cups of fresh watermelon, cubed

1 cup of  fresh blackberries

1 cup of fresh blueberries

1 cup of fresh raspberries

2 cups of fresh cantaloupe, cubed

For the Lemon Basil Honey Dressing:

Three tablespoons of honey

Two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice

One tablespoon of finely chopped fresh basil

One teaspoon of lemon zest

Optional ingredients: Add cucumbers or extra virgin olive oil and salt to the dressing to make this fruit salad savory.

Equipment

Large Bowl

Cutting board and a sharp knife for prepping the melon

collider for washing the fruit

paper towels

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fruit

Slice the watermelon and cantaloupe. Ensure the pieces are bite-sized for easy eating.

Rinse the blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries gently under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 2: Make the Dressing

Whisk together the honey and lemon juice in a small bowl until the honey is fully dissolved.

Add the finely chopped basil and lemon zest to the mixture. Stir well.

Step 3: Combine and Toss

Combine the cubed watermelon, cantaloupe, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries in a large mixing bowl.

Drizzle the lemon basil honey dressing over the fruit.

Gently toss the fruit and dressing, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated.

Step 4: Chill and Serve

For the best flavor, let the fruit salad sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to marinate together.

Storage: Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to five days.
