Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches

If you love French DIp Sandwiches but don’t have time to cook a roast, try this Instant Pot Ground Beef French Dip Sandwich recipe.  This recipe takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish and has the most delicious au jus that cooks right along with it!

If you want something different to make with ground beef, try these Instant Pot Ground Beef French Dip Sandwiches.  In my opinion, pressure cooking enhances the flavor of ground beef.  You will get delicious ground beef sandwiches and an au jus in less than 30 minutes.   These sandwiches turn out mouthwatering, and they are the perfect weeknight meal!

Ingredients needed

One pound of ground beef

One tablespoon of butter

One small white onion, sliced

Three cloves of minced garlic

One tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce

Two cloves of minced garlic

1.5  cups beef broth

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon thyme

One bay leaf

French Dip Sandwich Ingredients

Provolone Cheese or Swiss Cheese

French Bread, French baguette, or French Rolls.

Optional add-in ingredients: onion and garlic powder, french onion soup mix

Can this recipe be made gluten-free?

You can make this recipe gluten-free with gluten-free bread and substitute tamari for the soy sauce.

Instructions

1. Set your Instant Pot to saute.  Add butter, onions, and garlic. Sear until onions are translucent.

2. Add ground beef and brown, but don’t worry about cooking it all through.

3. Press “Cancel” to stop the cooking.

4. Add oregano, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, and beef broth.

5. Place the lid on to your instant pot and lock it.  Rotate the pressure release valve to “sealing.”

6. Cook on high pressure for 8 minutes.

7. Release Steam

8. Using a Ladle, remove the juice from the Instant Pot for the aus jus.

9. Saute the Cooked ground beef until the remaining liquid thickens.

10. Build your sandwiches and serve.

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf

  • French Bread
  • Provolone Cheese

Storage

You will want to store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. OR you can freeze the leftovers in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Can I make this meal in the slow cooker?

If you don’t have an Instant Pot, I recommend cooking this recipe on the stove before recommending a slow cooker.

There is nothing like this tender beef on toasted bread with melted provolone cheese! This instant pot french dip recipe needs only a few simple ingredients. Once you try this, you will always want to cook ground beef in your pressure cooker!
