While chicken is super versatile, I don’t see much versatility when it comes to ground beef. I decided to try these Instant Pot Ground Beef for a few reasons.
- After I started making sloppy joe’s in my Instant Pot, I stopped making them on the stovetop.
- I decided that I wanted to explore creating more recipes with ground beef.

My husband was sad when he realized that I only cooked 1 pound of beef the first time I made these. They turned out SUPER flavorful. I think that cooking the beef in your Instant Pot helps marinate the flavors in the meat. We all thought these tasted authentic.
What you need to make Instant Pot Ground Beef Gyros
1 A pound of ground beef
One small onion
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 teaspoon of Cavender’s Greek Seasoning
Pita Bread or Naan- you will want to boil, bake or grill the pita bread or naan until it is warm and somewhat crispy.
Gyro fixings
cucumber
red onion
tomato slice
feta cheese
lettuce
Tzatziki Sauce- which is a Greek Yogurt Sauce. ( recipe below)

I was somewhat surprised at just how well these ground beef gyro turned out. Although these don’t exactly have the same texture as traditional gyros, it doesn’t matter. We love gyros in our house, and now we have a new reason to make them!

Instant Pot Ground Beef Gyros
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small white onion
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground marjoram
- 1 teaspoon Greek seasoning
- 1/2 cup beef broth
Tzatziki Sauce
- 1 cup Greek Yogurt
- 1 English cucumber chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 teaspoons dried or fresh dill
- 1 dash salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Build your gyro
- pita bread or naan warmed
- tomatoes
- cucumber
- onion
- feta cheese
Instructions
Set your Instant Pot to Saute
Add Olive oil, onion, and garlic to Instant Pot.
Saute until the onion is translucent.
Add ground beef and start to brown. Don't worry about cooking it all the way through.
Add oregano, marjoram, Greek seasoning, and beef broth.
Seal lid on Instant Pot.
Cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
Release steam.
Set Instant Pot to Saute once again. Saute beef, while stirring. This will thicken the mixture.
Build your gyro and enjoy!
Tzatziki Sauce
Stir all the ingredients together.
Marinate in the fridge 1/2 hour before eating.

Can you make these on the stove
Yes. When you cook them, think of the way you would cook sloppy Joes. I would also add 1/2 cup water when you let them simmer on the stove.
