Blender Pineapple Frozen Yogurt

by Kristen

Did you know you can make delicious pineapple frozen yogurt without an ice cream machine? All you need is a blender, frozen pineapple, and other ingredients for this healthy dessert that tastes similar to Disney’s Dole Whip!

I originally posted this recipe in 2014. I am updating it in 2023.

You will want to hang on to this super easy pineapple frozen yogurt recipe!  My kids love this easy froyo treat for a snack or a dessert anytime.  This is so healthy that you can even make this for breakfast!  No ice cream maker is needed for this super easy recipe.  All you need is a blender or a food processor and just a few minutes for prep time!

Ingredients needed

1.5 cups of Honey Vanilla Greek Yogurt- You are looking for Greek yogurt in a 32-ounce ” slightly sweetened vanilla container.”

3-4 cups of frozen pineapple- you can buy frozen pineapple from the fruit aisle or freeze the pineapple you have cut up.  I would avoid using canned pineapple in this recipe.

One teaspoon of pure vanilla extractadding vanilla is optional, but I think that the vanilla makes this taste like an authentic soft serve.

1/3-1/2 cup of milk-  You will want less milk if you want this more of a “soft serve” consistency and more milk if you want it more like a smoothie.  You may have to eyeball the milk to get the texture you like.

What kind of milk should I use?

I generally use whole milk in this soft-serve blender because it is super creamy. Coconut milk, almond milk, or any other milk of choice will work fine.

Optional Ingredients- You can add a few tablespoons of honey if you want your soft serve to have extra sweetness.  You can also sub-plain Greek yogurt if you don’t like that tangy, non, overly sweet taste of yogurt.

Instructions

1.  Add frozen pineapple, yogurt, vanilla, and milk into your blender.

2. Blend the yogurt mixture in a food processor or blender according to the manufacturer’s directions.  You may want to add more milk to achieve the consistency you like.

3. Pour the soft serve into a cup or a bowl and serve.

Storage- If you want the frozen yogurt to have a churned consistency, you may store it in a loaf pan in the freezer overnight.

Get Creative with flavors!  You can make this recipe with a variety of frozen fruits in addition to pineapple!  Strawberry, blueberry, mango, and frozen mixed berries would also taste great with this recipe!  You can also substitute the milk with pineapple juice to make a slushie.

Greek Yogurt has protein, calcium, and pineapple has your daily value of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.  This recipe is low in sodium, cholesterol, and complex carbohydrates.

The kids in your life with love this recipe!  The adults will love making it because it is a much healthier choice than so many other desserts.  If you have ever had dole whip at Disney World, you will feel this is reminiscent of that.

I see this delicious treat in my future! I just need to find some diary free, GF yogurt. I believe there is a brand out there. I was getting tired of banana ice cream. Perfect!

I also use fruits to make frozen treats for my family. I have to leave out the yogurt for myself but I bet the boys would love to try this one out. I love giving them healthier treats to snack on.

I like how easy it is to make this. Blending soft serves is a great way to get kids to eat their daily recommended amount of fruits.
