Instant Pot Beef Stew Meat Chili Tacos

I cannot say enough good things about these  Beef Stew Meat Chili Tacos.  This is a Restaurant quality meal made at home in your Instant Pot in 30 minutes! I have started loving cooking stew meat in my Instant Pot! not only can you cook stew meat into a variety of meals in less than 30 minutes, but the beef will cook up so tender and flavorful it will melt in. Your mouth!

I love my Instant Pot’s ability to cook inexpensive cuts of meat into tender, mouthwatering meals.  This recipe tastes fancy enough for a special occasion but is incredibly easy and takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish.  My Iowa-born husband, who knows good beef approved, as did all three of my kids.  These sandwiches are budget-friendly but taste more like a more expensive cut of meat when pressure cooked.

Making tacos using stew meat was a great way to switch up taco night in our house!  In my opinion, these seemed fancier than ground beef tacos.  This is a delightful budget-friendly meal that should be added to your dinner repertoire!

Cooking this meat in tomato sauce and chili seasonings made this meal rich tasting!

These Instant Pot Beef Stew Meat Chili Tacos call for only a few ingredients.  All you need is:

1.5 -2.0 pounds of beef stew meat

1 cup of water

1 15 ounces can of tomato sauce

Two tablespoons minced onion

One clove of garlic

Two tablespoons chili powder

One tablespoon cumin

One teaspoon oregano

juice of one lime

Note: The extra chili powder in this recipe gives this rich flavor. 

For the best Beef Tacos possible, I recommend the following toppings:




sour cream

lime juice

Beef Stew Meat Chili Tacos


  • 1.5-2.0 lbs beef stew meat cut into small strips
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice


  1. Cut up stew meat into smaller 1/2 inch slices.

  2. Add water, tomato sauce, minced onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and lime juice.

  3. Pressure cook for 10 minutes. let naturally release.

  4. Hit the saute setting.

  5. Saute for 10 minutes and let the meat mixture thicken.

  6. Build your tacos and serve!

These beef chili-lime tacos were mouthwateringly delicious.   They taste like they have been cooking in the slow cooker with all the flavors all day. Your family will not believe that this is only a 30-minute meal.
