30 Baby food Combinations

by Kristen

For all three of my sons, I have made them homemade baby food, and I loved coming up with different combinations for them!

Before I get to all of my favorite baby food combinations, I should tell you a few pieces of advice:

1. You DO NOT need an overpriced baby food maker to make delicious baby food your little one will like.

You can make baby food by steaming, or you can also boil fruits and vegetables on your stovetop until they become tender and simply blending the cooked vegetables with a little bit of warm water. You can also make baby food in your Instant Pot or Slow Cooker

2. I found that there were some vegetable baby foods that my kids didn’t care for. Like broccoli and green beans, I think it was more the texture than anything else. So I decided to start combining different fruits and vegetables when I made baby food to get a taste and texture that my kids loved! Your little ones will get to explore more flavors this way too! Experimenting with different foods is a great way to introduce a baby’s first foods.

3. After you cook the fruits and vegetables, you can mix the baby food with a food processor.  Make sure you let the food cool down a bit before mixing.

4. Most fruits and vegetables should be steamed. Bananas and Avocados can be mixed in with cooked fruits and vegetables

5. Baby food can be stored in the fridge or the freezer. You can store baby food in baby food jars, plastic baby food containers with lids, or ice cubes

How long does homemade baby food last?

You can store homemade baby food in the refrigerator in an airtight for 48 hours, or you can freeze it in an airtight container for up to three months.

Can you mix breast milk or formula with baby food?

Yes!

Can you mix rice cereal or infant oatmeal, barley, or other infant grains with baby food?

Yes!

If you choose to get a fancy baby food maker, I would recommend the baby brezza. I used it with my oldest son.

It is important not only to introduce your baby to a variety of different foods. They should be getting a variety of vitamins and minerals, potassium, fiber, and protein.

Once your kids get used to fruits and vegetables, you can introduce other foods like cheese, beef, salmon, yogurt, and chicken.   Consult with your pediatrician about introducing peanuts or peanut butter to your little one.

Hi. Do you boil/steam the fruits or you smash directly in blender? My baby is 5 months old. How should I prepare (or mix fruits ) for her? Thanks

How long would you say storage is good for—fridge and freezer? And what quantity would you say you use of each veggie and fruit—I.e. a cup of each and that makes you X amount of containers? Thank you!

ok so I have WIC and food stamps that pay for my kiddos food. So I definitely take them up on that and buy my food that way. though I am also intrigued by making some of my own so I will have to try some of yous. but my question to you is do you think that if I were to just mix the foods I get in the continrs it will be the same thing. my little guy hates peas with a passion so I figured i would just mix a jar of pears with it what do you think?

I think that fruit would sweeten up those peas, even if it’s not homemade. 🙂
