Hawaiian Roll Boston Cream Pie

by Kristen

This easy shortcut Hawaiian roll Boston cream pie recipe will satisfy your sweet tooth but will only require a few ingredients and a few minutes!

A Boston cream pie is actually a pastry filled with vanilla cream and topped with chocolate ganache. It originated in Boston in the 19th century.

The history of Boston Cream Pie can be traced back to the 19th century and is closely associated with the Parker House Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. Now, Boston cream pie is considered a classic American dessert.

Hawaiian Rolls are sweet enough to make a quick copycat version of this dessert. A Hawaiian roll can be sweet and spongy, just like cake. This will taste similar to a Boston cream pie donut.

Ingredients

King’s Hawaiian Rolls

One tablespoon of melted butter

“custard” Filling

One package of Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix

2 cups of cold milk to mix with the pudding

1/2 cup of whipped cream. You can use prepared whipped cream or whip your heavy cream for this recipe.

Chocolate Ganash Ingredients

1/3 cup powdered sugar

Two tablespoons of cocoa powder- you can also choose to use melted chocolate.

Storage

You can store these in the fridge for up to three days. I would avoid storing these in the freezer.
