If you’ve been active on social media this summer, then you know about Starbuck’s secret menu rainbow drinks. It started off with Pink Drink. Then Purple Drink. Now Starbucks has a whole rainbow of drinks. I found about them because I follow Starbucks on Instagram.
One thing that is a little confusing about ordering these drinks- is that many Starbucks baristas don’t actually know how to make these drinks. You have to provide the recipe you want. When I ordered my real Starbucks Orange Drink, I read the recipe off from this Instagram post provided by Starbucks.
But since I had to read the recipe off for the Barista when I ordered this drink- It made me realize how easy it would be to make this at home!
This Instagram Post states that the recipe for Orange drink is: Orange- Mango juice with vanilla bean powder and a splash of coconut milk. So this was actually simple enough. Naked makes a great mango-orange juice. Plus, I keep this ground vanilla powder in my fridge for baking.
This may look like this vanilla powder is super expensive. But recipes require just a little bit. I have been going through this package for well over a year- and I am not even 1/2 way through it.
I usually don’t drink a lot of juice- just because of the calorie content. But I only added 1/3 of this 15 ounce container to my orange drink. Plus, at least it is 100% juice.
Copycat Starbucks Orange Drink ( Makes 1 )
Ingredients
5 ounces – Mango- Orange Juice- I used Naked
1/8 teaspoon of vanilla bean powder
1 1/3 cup of coconut milk- the kind from the milk section of your grocery store- not canned
2 cups of ice
Method: In a cup or mason jar- mix together Mango-Orange juice, coconut milk and vanilla powder. Make sure to mix it really well. Add Ice and Enjoy. I personally like to let the ice simmer in the drink for about 5 minutes before drinking it- but you can enjoy however you like it.
This was seriously tasty. This orange drink is my favorite of all the rainbow drinks I have tried. I imagine that some of the other ones might be more difficult to make at home- because they’re made from teas. Let me look into it.
