Instant Pot Stew Meat Beef Gyros

by Kristen

Thank you to Chop Local For Sponsoring Today’s Post.  If you’re interested in purchasing meat directly from Iowa’s Farmers, check them out! All opinions within this post are entirely my own.

I have started to love cooking stew meat in my Instant Pot!  Not only can you cook stew meat into a variety of meals in less than 30 minutes, but the beef will cook up so tender and flavorful it will literally melt in your mouth!  The flavor of these gyros is incredible!  and will taste mouthwatering on warm pita bread with lots of creamy tzatziki sauce on top!

I love my Instant Pot’s ability to cook inexpensive cuts of meat into tender, mouthwatering meals.  This recipe tastes fancy enough for a special occasion but is incredibly easy and takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish.  My Iowa-born husband, who knows good beef approved, as did all three of my kids.

If you are a frequent visitor of this blog or follow me on social media, you probably know that we try to buy locally in my house as much as possible.   Choplocal is the best place to buy local meat directly from family farmers and butcher shops online.  Founded by an Iowa farmer, chop local directly connects Iowa meat producers with the consumer.  All you need to do is head over to their website and check out all of the delicious products.  You can have the meat directly shipped to your house, or if you’re local, some of the vendors offer a pickup option.

I Have several friends who live here in Iowa and the midwest who would love to buy directly from a farmer but AREN’T sure how. BUT, you don’t need to live in Iowa to purchase. Many of the vendors will shop nationwide! In my opinion, high-quality meat makes a great gift for anyone! Especially for those hard to shop for people!

You can find updated vendor information, along with seasonal specials on Choplocal’s website and all of their social media channels.  You can find them on:

These Instant Pot Stew Meat Gyros are Easy!

All you need is:

An Instant Pot

Kitchen Shears- to cut the meat into small slices

2 pounds of stew meat.  You can use other cuts of beef if you wish.  However, to keep the same cooking times, you will want to slice the beef into small pieces before cooking.

One yellow onion

Four cloves of garlic, minced

One teaspoon oregano

One teaspoon of Za’tzar seasoning or one teaspoon of Majoram

Two teaspoons of

Cavender’s Greek Seasoning

1 cup of beef broth

Tzatziki Sauce

Pita Bread or Naan

Garnishes: lettuce, tomato, kalamata olives, red onion

For the best Gyro possible, I recommend the following toppings:

Fresh tomatoes

kalamata olives

crispy romaine lettuce

cucumbers

feta cheese

kalamata olives

Gyros are traditionally served on warm pita bread.  However, I usually use warm naan for my beef gyros.

These beef gyros were mouthwateringly delicious.   They taste like they have been cooking in the slow cooker with all the flavors all day. Your family will not believe that this is only a 30-minute meal.  In my opinion, the Za’atar seasoning brought these beef gyros over the top.  Using high-quality local meat also helps.
