When I host Thanksgiving in the fall my family members help out by bringing amazing side dishes and appetizers, and it really helps keep the stress level down when trying to host a family event.  In turn, I like to bring something to share when someone else is hosting for our family.

This spring, my family¬†will be driving to Chicago for a variety of family get-togethers.¬† These ham and cheddar stuffed dates are the perfect things to make for sharing.¬† ¬†All of the ingredients travel well, these can be assembled easily in someone else’s kitchen, plus anything stuffed in dates is always a big hit with my family!

I actually got the idea for these from my 6-year-old talking about his school cafeteria.  At his school, his favorite thing to get from the cafeteria for lunch is hot ham and cheese sandwiches.  I think they must add a little brown sugar to those sandwiches.  I thought that adding ham and cheddar cheese to dates would achieve a similar sweet flavor.

Kaukauna¬ģ spreadable cheddar is perfect for this recipe.¬† Not only is¬†Kaukauna¬ģ¬†made with 100% real cheddar, but it is a crowd pleaser.¬† ¬†Not only is¬†Kaukauna¬ģ tasty by itself, but it can be made into so many easy, no-fuss appetizers and snacks!

I love this sharp cheddar cheese spread.¬† Kaukauna¬ģ¬†also carries a Port wine flavor that is just as good!

As a lifelong Midwesterner, I love cheese and including cheeses in appetizer spreads at family events. This appetizer will be a pleasant addition to our spread.
