Realizing that I could cook frozen meat in my electric pressure cooker was a game-changer. When you cook a ham in your pressure cooker instead of the oven, you get a hands-off way to cook a ham straight out of the freezer department of your grocery store, but it will achieve a big flavor! You can use this cooking technique with a variety of ham recipes. You can add pineapple, honey, juice, apple cider, maple syrup, dijon mustard, apple juice, ginger, ground cloves, cinnamon, or any of your favorite holiday ham ingredients to this recipe. This will be one of the easiest holiday dinners you will ever make!
But these days, ham might be the most prevalent food around here. My kids love it. Serving Hot ham and cheese sandwiches is one of my go-to dinners when I don’t have time to cook. My other go-to dinner is scrambled eggs.
A friend of mine was telling me that she just threw a frozen ham in her Instant Pot. What a great idea! I was at the store the very next day to get a small meat because I wanted to see for myself if it would work.
If you are a frequent reader of this recipe site, then you know my newfound love of my Instant Pot. Here are all the recipes I have made using my Instant Pot Duo.
Sometimes after Easter or Christmas, I like to buy hams on sale and keep them in my freezer.
- It did work, and it was SUPER easy!
- My house smelled AH, mazing!
- If your Ham comes with a glaze packet, go ahead and throw it in too. I love this Ham glaze, and I always pick some up when I am at the Outlet mall.
- You can always sub butter for olive oil or whatever oil you like.
Here is a little video I created for you!

This turned out great! I was worried about it being frozen, but I followed your recipe and it worked out!
Delicious flavor. The house smells amazing. I had a somewhat thawed ham and it needed 15 more minutes on saute to be cooked through. Great recipie!
thank-you for letting me know! 🙂
Made this today and delicious. Looking for great other new something recipes and this does it. Thanks for sharing.
How many pounds was your ham? i have a 6 lb frozen ham, bone in. how long do i cook it for? i am an instant pot newbie.
the ham I used was about 6 pounds too. It was a spiral sliced ham already cooked. Is that what you have too?
I’m going to have to try this when ham goes on sale for easter!
