Za’ater Seasoning Roasted Shrimp and Asparagus

by Kristen

I picked up some Za’atar Seasoning from Trader Joe’s, and I have been putting it on everything!  This middle eastern condiment is aromatic and tastes amazing on This sheet pan roasted Shrimp and Asparagus.  I made this for a quick dinner and served it over angel hair.  This was quick, easy, and packed with flavor!

If you are a frequent follower of this site, then you know I have been digging Trader Joe’s seasoning lately!   Recently, I have made:

Cuban Chicken Bowls

Coffee Barbecue Rub Pulled Pork

Everything but the Elote Chicken and Rice

Everything Bagel Chicken Thighs

Now that my parents are vaccinated, my parents came for a visit.   My mom brought me all kinds of goodies from Trader Joe’s, including Za’atar Seasoning.   You know how much I love Middle Eastern Flavors!

Za’atar seasoning is a savory and earthy seasoning.  I happen to really love toasted sesame seeds, so this seasoning is for me.

What are the spices in Za’atar Seasoning?

Toasted Sesame Seeds, Thyme, Majoram, Coriander, Oregano, Salt, Pepper, and Lemon oil.

Where is Za’atar Seasoning from?

Za-atar seasoning is from the middle east.  You can find it in pretty much every country across the middle east. You will find that each region has its own variation.

How do you Pronounce Za’atar?

Pronounced ( Za-Thar), and it means ” wild thyme” in Arabic.

Where do you find Za’atar Seasoning?

You can now find Za’atar seasoning at Trader Joes.  If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s, you can also find their eBay and Amazon seasonings for a slightly higher price.  I have also seen Za’atar seasoning on Walmart.com.

This is an effortless meal.  If I were making this for just my husband and me, I would probably stick to just the sheet pan’s contents.  I served this over angel hair because my kids love angel hair and will usually eat any meat and veggies I serve with it.
