This Banana Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars recipe calls for no white sugar and no brown sugar. These cookie bars are sweetened with bananas and semi-sweet chocolate chips. They’re delicious with just being sweet enough. After my banana chocolate chip cookie recipe took off around the internet, I decided to try chocolate chip cookie bars with no white sugar. One cup of white sugar is 700 calories in it. So you’re saving a lot of calories by not adding the sugar. My kids devoured these bars, and I had a few of the neighbor kids asking for them too!
When my kids were young, I always tried sneaking healthy things into their baked goods. Now that I’ve been a mom for almost 10 years, I am more about just telling them what’s in their food. My kids LOVE my Banana Chocolate Chip Cookie recipes which call for no white sugar- or brown sugar. I decided to switch up the recipe a bit by making these Banana Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars.
Not only did my kids devour these, but I had neighbor kids asking for second helpings as well.
True, these do have added sugar because I added semi-sweet chocolate chips to them. However, the cookie part of these chocolate chip cookie bars is only sweetened with bananas.
I made these with whole wheat flour. I will add a conversion incase you want to make these using all-purpose white flour.
These bars are just sweet enough without being overpowered with sweetness. All you need is a few ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.
For this recipe, you will need:
8×8 baking dish
parchment paper
2 bananas
1/2 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour You can also use 2 cups of white flour.
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips ( or more chocolate chips if you like)
This recipe can be whipped up for an after-school snack on a whim- and these probably have less sugar than most store-bought breakfast items.
All you need to do is:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix bananas, butter, vanilla, eggs, and milk.
Add dry ingredients: flour, salt, baking powder, and chocolate chips.
Place the mixture into the baking dish and bake in the oven for 25 minutes.
Remove from oven. Cut into squares and serve!

Can I use almond milk instead of milk?
Is this plain or self raising flour please
Plain whole wheat flour. it works with all-purpose flour as well.
Yes could I use almond flour instead of regular or wheat??
You could try. I have never used almond flour, so I am not sure what the conversion would be.
Can you freeze these?
yes
