Snickers Stuffed Dates

Do you know what I love about food blogging?  Coming up with a new idea that turns out to be something delicious!  Last night, when I was falling asleep, I was 1/2 way dreaming about new recipes I could make.

You see, last week I posted a Salted Caramel Frappe, where the caramel taste came from a date.  So, I thought that if maybe that date could be the caramel flavor of Snickers.  I have always loved cheese stuffed dates but decided to try stuffing the date with Snickers flavors instead.

I was a little unsure of how I would make the nougat, though.  I hopped online to get some ideas.  I made the nougat recipe from this Homemade snickers recipe I saw online.  I am not going to type out the recipe for the nougat here.  When I write out the recipe below, please visit this other blog and get it there!

I think that this tasted like snickers.  Just healthier.   My advice is to try to stuff as many peanuts as you can into that date. That is what makes this Snickers stuffed date shine.

Snickers Stuffed Dates

Ingredients

For the Nougat Recipe.  Please visit Detoxinista.com.  I cut her nougat recipe in 1/3 because I only made five stuffed dates.

5 Medjool dates

1/4 cup of chopped roasted peanuts

1/8 cup of dark chocolate chips, melted and stirred.

Method:  Assemble the nougat recipe. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour.  Cut open each Medjool date and remove the pit.  In each date, stuff nougat and as many peanuts as you can. Microwave the chocolate chips for 20-30 seconds and stir until melted. Drizzle melted chocolate on each date. Eat right away or save for later.

These Snickers Stuffed dates could not be any easier.  The more peanuts you add, the better these will taste like a real Snickers.  My husband thought that the date itself reminded him of nougat texture, but I still believe that adding it in gave it huge snickers taste.

I can’t wait to make these again soon.

So…I had to come read your post when I saw the title. It was just to weird! And I have to say I’m really curious now. I enjoy dates now and again but this is beyond anything I ever thought of doing. Thank you for sharing!
