Unsalted butter- make sure your butter is at room temperature
Brown Sugar and White Sugar- I use 1/2 cup of brown and white sugar in this recipe. Including brown sugar in cookies will help you achieve a softer cookie.
Vanilla extract – Adds flavor to these cookies.
1 large egg – Helps bind everything together.
All-Purpose Flour-
Baking Soda
Salt
Rolled Oats– Oats provide a deliciously chewy texture
Sour Cream- Helps create a fluffy consistency in the cookie.
Raisins – plump, sweet cookies make these cookies over the top.
Ingredient Note: you want to use old-fashioned oats, not quick oats, in this recipe.
Recipe variations: You can add cinnamon, nuts, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, dried cranberries, or other add-ins.

Why would you add sour cream to cookies?
Sour cream gives these oatmeal cookies the most fantastic texture!
Moisture: Sour cream is high in moisture, contributing to a softer and more moist cookie. It helps prevent the cookies from becoming dry or crumbly.
Tenderness: The acidity in sour cream tenderizes the gluten in the flour, resulting in a more tender crumb and a softer texture overall.
