Stovetop Butter Garlic Broccoli

This Charred Garlic Butter Broccoli is the ultimate vegetable side dish!  All you need is a pan, stove, and a few simple ingredients to make this easy frozen vegetable recipe! 

I am always looking for new recipes to make for my family at dinner time.  This easy Sautéed Broccoli recipe is so easy; the whole family will love it!  All you need is two bags of frozen broccoli and a large skillet.

Ingredients Needed

2 bags frozen broccoli florets (approximately 24–32 ounces total)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 garlic cloves, minced (or 1½ teaspoons pre-minced garlic)

½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Optional: a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat

Optional Additional variations: lemon juice, additional herbs, or parmesan cheese would make great additions to this perfect tender-crisp broccoli.

Recipe note: You can use 1/2 butter and 1/2 olive oil for this recipe.

Instructions

  1. Remove the frozen broccoli from the freezer and lightly pat off any excess ice or water with a paper towel (this helps it char better).
  2. Place a large saucepan or skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, swirling it around the pan.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the pan and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Add the frozen broccoli to the pan. Spread it into an even layer for maximum contact with the pan surface.
  5. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and other seasonings if using.
  6. sauté the broccoli from frozen without stirring for 5-6 minutes to let it develop a slight char on one side. Stir and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for another 6–8 minutes until the broccoli is heated and slightly charred on the edges.

  8. You can serve this right from the pen or transfer it to a serving bowl.

Serve hot as a side dish, or enjoy it on its own.

Storage: store leftover broccoli in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
