Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F

  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.

  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.

  5.  In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  6.  Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

  7. Fold in sour cream and mix, but do not overmix.

  8. Gently stir in the chocolate chips.

  9. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto your prepared baking sheet..  Leave about 2 inches between cookies. They puff more than they spread.

  10. Bake for  10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden but the centers still look soft and pale.

  11. Let cookies sit on the baking sheet for 2–3 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
