You will love the flavor of this cream cheese mint recipe. This is one of my favorite candy recipes and is a switch-up of the old-fashioned cream cheese mints. These are perfect to serve during the holidays, but you can switch up the color of the sprinkles and serve them at Easter, graduation parties, or any other time of the year.
Cream Cheese Mints can be made with just a few ingredients:
4 ounces of softened cream cheese
One tablespoon of butter at room temperature
Four drops of peppermint extract
Four drops of vanilla extract
Four cups of powdered sugar are added to the dough one cup at a time.
One tablespoon of sprinkles
Optional: gel food coloring
Equipment
baking sheets or sheet pan
Hand mixer or a spatula for mixing. Avoid using a whisk to mix this recipe. You can also use a stand mixer.
parchment paper or wax paper
Note: Please use” peppermint” extract in this recipe, not ” mint” extract. The mint extract will make your mints taste like toothpaste. Peppermint will taste much better! Do not add extra drops. Peppermint extract can be very strong!
Instructions
1. Add softened cream cheese, softened butter, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Mix well.
2. Add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, and stir the sugar until you get a dough-like batter mixture that is not sticky.
3. Add sprinkles and mix in well.
3. Roll 1/2-inch balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper.
4. Press mints down with a fork. You can also choose to use a candy mold to mold them.
5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before eating.
Storage
store your cream cheese mints in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks and in the freezer for up to one year. If you are storing them in the freezer, store them in a freezer bag, separating single layers with wax paper or parchment paper.
