Muffin Tin Thumbprint Cookies

by Kristen

Your house will smell amazing when you take these thumbprint cookies out of the oven!  These cookies are buttery, soft, and filled with your favorite jam!  This recipe is foolproof when you make this classic Christmas cookie in a mini muffin tin.  I used Swedish Lingonberries in this recipe, but your family’s favorite jam will taste perfect!

These buttery delicious shortbread cookies bake up quickly and are the perfect cookie to make for the holiday season!  My kids love these cookies!  I filled mine with lingonberry jam, but Strawberry preserves, raspberry jam, or apricot jam taste lovely in the center of each cookie as well!

You may have noticed how much I love cookies by the number of popular cookie recipes on my site!  These thumbprint cookies are unique because they are made in mini muffin cups!

The ingredient list is short for these muffin tin thumbprint cookies!

All you need is:

Butter

Sugar

Two large eggs

Vanilla Extract

Baking powder

All-purpose flour

Your favorite jam, jelly, or preserves.

The process for these cookies is simple.  All you need to do is:

  1. Cream together butter, sugar, vanilla, and eggs in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder.
  3. Grease the muffin tin with cooking spray.
  4. Add flour mixture into the cookie dough with the wet ingredients.
  5. Spoon in 1 inch balls of cookie dough into each muffin tin
  6. Using your thumb, create an indentation in each cookie. to create the cookie cups.
  7. Spoon a tablespoon of preserves in each cookie.
  8. Bake the cookies in the oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
  9. Once the cookies are cooled, sprinkle a dusting of powdered sugar on top of each cookie using a flour sifter.

You can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer with this recipe.

You can quickly adapt this recipe to create a thumbprint cookie that fits your tastes.  This recipe would also taste good with chocolate or a peanut butter cup in the middle.  This cookie tastes the best when it is served at room temperature.

Looks great, I would like to try this recipe but you never said what to set the oven temp to. I’m gonna try setting it at 350 and hope it’s right.
