Protein Blend Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps

Are you looking for some super quick dinner ideas?  Try this super easy meal using one pound of ground beef and two bags of Birdseye protein blends.   All you do is cook them together for a quick and balanced meal idea.  I made mine into lettuce wraps, but you can also add toppings like a rice bowl.   I cooked this quickly in my pressure cooker, but you can easily cook this meal on your stovetop as well. 

I actually got this recipe idea a few years ago when I talked to someone at a party.  She told me that when she doesn’t have time to cook, she quickly cooked a pound of ground beef with a few bags of Birdseye protein blends.   I have tried this with all of the flavors available and different kinds of meat, not just ground beef.   I don’t always endorse ” convenience foods,” but I think that this is an idea worth sharing.

All you need for this meal is:

1 pound of ground beef

2 bags of Birdseye vegetable protein blends.

toppings like cheese and sour cream

Romaine lettuce

My husband and I will make ours into lettuce wraps, but my kids might add cheese to theirs.

I cooked mine using my Instant Pot.  I sauteed the beef, then pressure cooked the beef with the vegetable blends for 4 minutes.   You can also cook this in a saucepan on the stove.  Both ways are super fast and delicious!

Recipe Tip: If you like spice, I encourage you to add cumin, taco seasoning, or cayenne pepper!

Protein Blend Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients

  • 2 12 ounce bags Birdseye Southwestern Protein Blend
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • romaine lettuce cups

Garnish

  • cheese
  • sour cream

Instructions

Stove Top Directions

  1. In a saucepan over medium-heat brown ground beef. Drain beef and place back into the pan.

  2. Add Birdseye protein blend to the saucepan. No need to defrost it. Add seasonings and water.

  3. Simmer on the stove, stirring every few minutes for about 15-20 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and build your lettuce wraps.

Instant Pot Directions

  1. Using the saute button, saute the ground beef. Drain and place ground beef back into the pot.

  2. Add frozen protein blends, spices, and water.

  3. Close your instant pot and cook on high for 4 minutes. Quick Release pressure

  4. Build lettuce wraps.

This is a delicious and simple meal to throw together on a whim!  These also make great meal-prep lunches!
