As we entered into a new decade on New Year’s Eve, I was reflecting on how much my life changed in the past ten years. Within the last ten years, I had my three sons. I traded in my fancy high heels for comfortable flats, I traded in my nights out for nights in, watching movies with my kids. In 2020, my perfect New years eve consisted of putting together a jigsaw puzzle with my “mom friends” while discussing our favorite chicken recipes that our kids will eat. Our beverage of choice on New Year’s eve these days? A big glass of milk. 🙂
I feel good about feeding my kids dairy. Real milk keeps us feeling full longer, and I like knowing it has nine essential nutrients including:
- High-quality protein for lean muscle
- Vitamin A for a healthy immune system
- Potassium to help regulate the balance of fluids
- Bone-building nutrients like calcium, Vitamin D, and phosphorus
When my kids are hungry right before we’re going to eat a meal, I give them a glass of 2% milk to tide them over. I love walking to my local store to pick up milk.
We happen to drink a lot of milk in our house. We go through 2-3 gallons each week. My kids drink it with their meals, eat it with their cereal in the morning, I cook polenta with it, put it in smoothies, and I love to marinate my favorite chicken recipe with buttermilk. It also contains high-quality protein and Vitamin A for a healthy immune system. If you visit the Milk Life Website, you will find a ton of delicious recipes! You can also visit them on social media.

I love supporting the dairy Industry. Living in Iowa, we know several folks that work in the dairy industry. We happen to live in an area with a ton of dairy farms within view of our backyard! It is important to me to support my local economy and to educate my children on where their food comes from. We can see cows grazing at the dairy farm across the field from our house!
My kids love this crispy buttermilk chicken! I marinated this chicken in buttermilk, garlic, and fresh herbs. Rosemary and Thyme happen to be my favorite herbs to cook with. love the way they smell!
Buttermilk brings something amazing to chicken! Buttermilk chicken has become a favorite in our house these past few years! Don’t forget to check out the Milk life website to get more delicious recipe ideas using all different kinds of real milk!
