Pressure Cooker Gyro Beef Stew

I think that Greek Food is magical.   I seriously love the flavors.  Growing up in the Chicago area, my outings to The Greek Isles, to the suburban location and the location in the city were memorable.

Even though there aren’t really any Greek restaurants in Cedar Falls, Iowa I still love cooking Greek food at home.  On this website, you can find a variety of chicken gyro recipes, here, here and HereBeef Gyros, Greek salad, vegan gyros, and even Greek bratwurst burgers.

I wanted to create a Greek dish that involved potatoes because lemony Greek seasoned potatoes are simply just the best thing ever.  I actually hesitated to include lemon juice in this recipe because I don’t usually include lemon juice in beef gyros.  But actually, the lemon juice made this dish and should most certainly be included.

It is imperative that you top this stew with some Tzatziki sauce.  It really makes it taste just like a gyro.  Without the Tzatziki sauce, you just have a Greek stew which will absolutely be delicious, it just won’t remind you of a gyro.

This was a completely original idea, and I don’t think my husband thought it was going to work.  It totally did though.  I have fallen in love with making stews and chilis in my Instant Pot.  It is so amazing that you can make a stew in 30 minutes that tastes like it has been cooking in the slow cooker for days.

I religiously keep this Greek seasoning in my cabinet.  I usually add it to any Greek dish I make and even some dishes that I wouldn’t consider to be Greek.

I have created a video for you, to show you that you can literally dump some simple ingredients together to create this magical dish.

This beef stew was so very good!  It tasted like a beef gyro, but didn’t have all the bread, and contained lots of veggies and tasty Greek infused potatoes. !
