My. Mornings. Are. So. Important. They set the mood for the rest of the day. I think I have mentioned before, that I LOVE to wake up early and be productive hours before my kids are expected to wake up. It is incredible and drinking coffee in silence indeed is magical. Over the last 1-2 years, I have spent time trying to make the best of my time alone. I have come up with a list of five things I always do for a better morning and a healthier, more successful day.

Five things I do to start off my morning right:

1) I drink a coffee mug of water before I get to have any coffee.

Drinking coffee in silence is, hands down, my favorite morning activity besides early morning blogging. But before I allow myself to get too excited about caffeine, I like to make sure I have some water in my system. I typically head to the gym mid-morning, so I don’t want to be dehydrated. Every morning, before I drink coffee, I make myself drink a coffee mug filled with water. Drinking water first thing in the morning allows me to feel great!

2) Take my morning Nature Made® Omega-3 supplement.

I generally don’t take a ton of supplements, because I fill my diet with a ton of fruits and veggies. However, I do think that getting enough Omega-3’s is essential in my morning routine. A few years ago, my husband came home with some fish oil supplements and explained to me the benefits. So now, I take them too. Nature Made® Omega-3 is purified to remove mercury‡, has no color added and is gluten-free. Plus Nature Made® fish oil supply only comes from wild caught ocean fish, not farm raised fish.

Walmart has just changed its Nature Made® packaging for fish oil. Well, it’s the EPA & DHA in Omega-3s from fish oil that counts anyway! Now at Walmart, you can find a selection of Nature Made® Omega-3 supplements that call out the amount of EPA & DHA Omega-3s on the front of the label. EPA + DHA Omega-3s are the active ingredients in fish oil that provide heart-healthy benefits.†  Nature Made® offers many “Burpless” Omega-3 items that are specially coated to help prevent a fishy odor and aftertaste.

With this change in labels, Walmart is trying to make it easier for shoppers to navigate the “fish oil” segment and to ensure their shoppers are confident they found the right Omega-3 supplement.

3) Wake up early.

I do believe that sleeping well for health is underrated. And contrary to what others may say, I do think that waking up early is better for my health. When I wake up early, I can be productive; this means that I am less stressed out after getting work done first thing in the morning. Also, when I wake up early, I am super tired at night. This means I usually sleep much better. I have happier, less stressful and more productive days when I am in a routine of waking up early.

4) I eat a healthy breakfast.

I don’t always sit down to eat breakfast. Usually, I am making food for my kids often I don’t always have time to eat myself. I have learned that eating a healthy breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated. It can just be eating a piece of fruit, some peanut butter bread or string cheese as I drive my kids to school. Sometimes I have time to “meal prep” breakfast, but that doesn’t always happen. It is essential to eat something in the morning to have a productive day.

5) I make lists.

I never made to-do lists when I was younger. But, now that I have so much going on and being a work from home mom with three kids, I need to make lists or I will leave things undone. My to-do lists are often written with a marker or a crayon on a piece of scrap paper my kids have colored on. However, they are also imperative in helping me get everything done.

I love tweaking little things about my day which results in feeling better and being more productive!
