There is nothing easy about getting kids out of the house on time for school.  My oldest son likes wakes up at the crack of dawn, every day.  While my middle son likes to sleep in for as long as I will let him.

Then it’s breakfast, making sure they are dressed properly, making sure they actually brush their teeth and helping them find their shoes.  For some reason we always have a hard time locating their shoes.   All before it’s time to get in the car to head to school.

I was always running back in the house 2-3 times for items we had forgotten.  A hat, a sweatshirt, something for them to eat or maybe wipes, because one of them had jelly smothered all over their face from breakfast time.

I started this little area in our van, to help with school organization.  I took one of the captain seats out, and found some hooks for backpacks.  I also started keeping some bins in the van, for extra hats, gloves, water, snacks, and of course, I also kept some Wet Ones® Hand Wipes.

I love keeping Wet Ones® Hand Wipes accessible in my car.  It seems like we always need them.  I can’t tell you how many times we are pulling up to school, when I notice that jelly or cereal bar is stuck on my middle son’s hands.  This helps me bring them to school looking polished.

Plus, Wet Ones® Hand Wipes clean up 99.9 % of germs and it is a great way to clean up messes when water isn’t available.  Wet Ones® Hand Wipes are hypoallergenic but clean better than hand sanitizers.

Okay, back to my car organization.   In addition to the hooks I put to the back of the front seats, I always keep the following things in these bins in my car.

  • Extra hats and gloves
  • Boots – during the winter
  • Water
  • Cereal bars- just incase the kids need some more breakfast
  • Extra sweatshirts- one fall day, they will need one, and I am always surprised when we stumble upon a blistery day.
  • A few pens and pencils- just in case I need to sign a permission slip as the kids are running into school.

I also like to hang their winter coats on those hooks during the winter.  If your preschooler is in a car seat, it is not suggested that puffy coats are worn while in car seats.  This also gives them room to put those coats on before they jump out of the car.

Another tip- I use white puffy fabric paint to clearly write their names on their backpacks.  Teachers have told me that really helps a lot when they are trying to organize kids at the end of the school day.

It is so crazy how fast summer has passed, and here we are again, getting ready for yet another school year.  Hopefully these car organization tips help you make school drop off a breeze- if that is such a thing. 🙂

Don’t forget to enter for the chance to win this awesome trip. Because I know if you’re like me, you might want to start planning your next break!
