White Hot Chocolate London Fog

Valentines Day is my favorite holiday.  I often start planning out our Valentines in January.  It is such a fun celebration in the middle of a bleak, blustery winter.   My husband and I are parents to three boys. We are often cold and tired this time of year.  There is no better treat we can give each other than a nice warm cup of caffeine.  This non alcoholic White Chocolate London Fog is wonderful.

January is National Tea Month.   I can see no better time of year for sitting around, inside, sipping on tea.

I was super excited when I received an opportunity to try out Dunkin’ Donuts new premium teas. Growing up in Chicagoland in the 90’s, Dunkin’ Donuts munchkins were a staple when it came to birthday treats at school.  I have always loved all their beverages as well.

This White Chocolate London Fog tastes toasty and bright.  It is sweet, but not too sweet.  I love my tea to be super hot.  I love the feeling when a warm drink warms my stomach as I drink it.

Dunkin’ Donuts has a whole line of new premium teas that you can pair with your donuts or your breakfast sandwiches.  You can get tea to go at any local Dunkin’ Donuts Store- or you can buy tea bags to bring home.  Each new flavor can be purchased in boxes containing 15 individually-wrapped pyramid tea sachets, at the suggested retail price of $6.99  Some of these flavors are caffeinated, and some are decaffeinated.

The varieties being offered are:

• Bold Breakfast Black™ Tea: A bold blend of full leaf black tea for a full bodied flavor.
• Harmony Leaf Green™ Tea: A vibrant full leaf green tea delivering a delicate earthy flavor.
• Chamomile Fields™ Herbal Infusion: A caffeine-free herbal infusion featuring chamomile flowers, citrus and herbs combined to offer a fragrant and delicate taste.
• Hibiscus Kiss™ Herbal Infusion: A caffeine-free herbal infusion featuring hibiscus, herbs and natural berry flavors to deliver bright and juicy flavors in every sip.
• Cool Mint Herbal Infusion: A caffeine-free herbal infusion combining peppermint leaves and natural herbs to offer a cool, invigorating taste.

I made this –non alcoholic- London Fog using Bold Breakfast Black™ Tea, but I honestly think that any of these teas would taste delicious with this recipe.   I love pairing milk with tea.  When I was in college, I studied in Ireland, I drank tea with milk the entire time I was there.  A London Fog is basically a latte made with concentrated brewed tea.  The Best part is, that all you need is a stove top or a microwave in order to make this.

White Chocolate London Fog – yields 1 drink

Ingredients

1 1/3 cup of water

2 Bold Breakfast Black™ Tea bags

1/3 cup of milk

1-2 teaspoons of white chocolate pieces

1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Method:  In a saucepan on the stove, or in a microwave-safe mug, heat up white chocolate pieces, milk and vanilla.  heat up until the white chocolate melts into the milk.  Stir well.   An another cup, or saucepan, heat up water and steep the tea bags in the water until it has reached a dark caramel color. Place the tea in the white chocolate milk and stir well before drinking.

This white chocolate London Fog was wonderful and perfect for these cold, blow zero days we have been  Iowa.  The folks at the Cedar Falls Dunkin’ Donuts are just wonderful, and all the teas they have are really tasty.

White chocolate London fog sounds like a wonderful way to warm up. The weather has been so cold lately. I will have to be on the lookout for these different T varieties. I much prefer tea to coffee
