Happy Labor Day weekend!

We have gotten through the first week of preschool in our house, and we are all getting adjusted to our new schedules and welcoming some beautiful cooler weather!   My younger brother drove to Cedar Falls to spend Labor Day weekend with us.

I am planning out some tasty meals in honor of his visit, and I also made this amazing looking Strongbow Cider Sangria for my brother and husband to enjoy as they watch the first Hawkeye football game this afternoon!

Strongbow has come up with some really innovative recipes using their ciders, and they gave me this delicious looking one to share with you.   This is a perfect recipe for this time of year.  This hard cider sangria is full of fall flavors, but will still keep you cool as you celebrate life’s pleasures with your friends and family!

I used Gold Apple in this hard cider sangria.

My brother thought that this Hard Cider Sangria was really refreshing.  He loved the lemon flavor the best.  He loved this served over ice, and thought it was really refreshing.  Strongbow Hard cider is imported from the UK and Belgium.

Strongbow Cider Sangria with berries, pineapple and thyme 

Prep time: 15 min – Servings: 6- Difficulty level: easy- 

Calories per serving: 153

Ingredients 

1/2 cup of blueberries

1/2 cup of fresh pineapple

5 sprigs of thyme – more for a garnish

1/2 lemon – seeds removed- cut up into little pieces- rind and all

6 ounces of German Elderflower Liquor

(2) 12 ounce bottles of Strongbow Gold Apple Cider

Directions: Add all ingredients except cider into a pitcher with ice.  Stir until ice has nearly dissolved, add cider and combine all ingredients.  Fill wine or rocks glasses with ice cubes and pour in the sangria, making sure to evenly distribute the fruit.   Garnish with a thyme sprig.
