I saw a hot vanilla recipe on Pinterest, and instantly wanted to try it! I wanted to make it healthier and also wanted to use my vanilla bean powder that I bake with a lot. I made this Hot Vanilla in the crock pot. If you are in a hurry, it can also be made on the stove top in just a few minutes.
Why hot vanilla?
Well, I actually love vanilla. maybe even more than chocolate. When I order ice cream, its vanilla every time.
Let’s talk about Vanilla for a moment. I used to use pure vanilla extract when making smoothies. But now that I am making these, mostly for my kids, I have become much more conscious about the vanilla that I choose to use.
I love this Vanilla Bean Powder. I bought it on amazon. it’s not cheap, but this little package has lasted me a really long time. A little really goes a long way. I also found non-alcohol added vanilla at Trader Joe’s. I like to add a lot of vanilla to things. I don’t feel bad about it when I use these products.
This Hot Vanilla is really easy to make, and I would consider adding other flavors next time, like canned pumpkin. I have never heated up almond, cashew or coconut milk before. But I bet you could try to use those milks if you don’t like cow’s milk.
Slow Cooker Hot Vanilla ( Serves 4)
6 cups of Milk
2 teaspoons of non alcohol pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of vanilla bean powder
3 teaspoons of maple syrup- or more if you like
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Method: Place all of the ingredients in a slow cooker and whisk everything together. Cook on low for 2-4 hours. Whisk every hour or so to mix the vanilla powder and cinnamon in. Once the Hot vanilla reaches your desired temp, and consistency, serve.
This was sooooo good! I will make this again soon!
