My family is having a wonderful summer here in Cedar Falls, Iowa!   This year, I have two active toddler boys and we are ON THE MOVE!   I finally know why people say they get all their exercise by chasing their kiddos around!  My boys are ALWAYS running in different directions!

I am so happy that we have a fenced in backyard, so I can keep the kids contained.  My boys LOVE spending time in our backyard.  This summer, they have been playing on our swing-set, using their water table, hanging out in the” jungle” ( the bushes).  They have been playing with bubbles, balls, and dragons (sticks).   They also use our never- used fire pit as the racetrack for their cars. And they both love helping us water our herbs and plants.   Our backyard is fun.

Since both my boys are so active, and so fair colored,  I always keep LOTS of sunscreen around, and I always keep cold fluids for them to drink.  Our sunscreen of choice?  Banana Boat®

I have always chosen Banana Boat® for my kids.  It is so important to put strong and tear-free sunscreen on kids.  You don’t want their eyes getting stung, and it is so important to protect their soft skin.

One awesome thing about summer, is eating and having snacks outside!  ( much less mess than inside).  This past week, I tried this DIY Fruit water bar activity with my boys.   We don’t usually keep sugary juice around our house.  Adding fruit to water is a great way to get kids excited about drinking more water during the hot summer months.

I made a platter of cut up fruit and fresh mint and let my kids pick their own water flavors.   You don’t need to go to the store to get anything special for this activity.  Just cut up the fruit you have around the house!  And raid your herb garden!

They had so much fun!

I just love summer!  My boys love playing outside as much as possible!  I can’t wait to see what else this season has in store for us!  Safety first though.  Keep those kiddos hydrated.  And keep them protected from the sun!  Don’t forget to visit Banana Boat® and check out their products!

we love fruit infused water in our family. Usually we just do one fruit at a time, but after reading this I think we’re going to throw a bunch of stuff in our water tonight 🙂

  4. This is such a great idea, and since my daughter is fair as well, I am always pushing water on her. She loves it, but creating her own fruit water would be heavenly in her books!

  12. Infused water is the BEST! I’m not one who loves to drink water, but I’ll happily drink it when it’s infused.
