I was reminiscing about college this past week. ( realizing that it has been TEN years since I have graduated) and I was thinking about the coffee house I worked in when I was going to college in Dubuque. ( this place has since closed)
And I started remembering the French Toast latte that they served. Yes. A latte with all the flavors of French Toast. Yum. I decided that I wanted to make one. I decided to put the flavors of French toast into a breakfast coffee frappe. If you like this French Toast Coffee Frappe, then you will also want to try my Healthy Coffee Frappe and my Salted Caramel Coffee Frappe as well.
The critical flavors to making this frappe taste like french toast are the vanilla, cinnamon, and the maple syrup. I usually use this ground vanilla powder, but you can use pure vanilla extract as well.
French Toast Breakfast Frappe ( Yields 2)
Two frozen bananas
3/4 cup of cold coffee ( I like to stick my leftover coffee in the fridge at night)
One teaspoon of milk ( optional)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean powder 0r one teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1-2 teaspoons of maple syrup ( depending on your sweetness pallet )
Mix all of the ingredients in your blender and blend. Pour the mixture into a glass and enjoy!
I love these healthy frappes. Not only are they much healthier than what you find at Starbucks, but they help me with my summertime breakfast dilemma. I don’t always want hot coffee during the summer, but I do still need some caffeine. Plus, because I am running around trying to get my kids ready, I don’t ever remember to eat. This frappe has everything I need. Caffeine- Check. Breakfast ( bananas).- Check. And something cold. – Check.
There are so many different kinds of French Toast; you could always play around with the flavors too. Maybe some pecans, or nut would be useful in this also.
