“Bottom of the Honey” Chicken Marinade

I use either honey or maple syrup as the sweetener in most of my baking and cooking.   I often have this problem you see above.   A bottle of maple syrup or honey with just a little bit stuck on the bottom.   I seriously have three bottles of honey in my pantry that looks like the bottle above on the left.   SOOOO hard to get that last little bit out!

Last weekend on my Facebook Page.  I showed you guys how my husband and I spent Saturday afternoon marinating chicken.  We had 5 different kinds marinating in the fridge for the week.  This “Bottom of the Honey” Soy Chicken was just one of the flavors.  ( more flavors later)

This chicken marinade is made right in the honey bottle.  Make sure you shake the honey bottle well, you want to make sure you get it all out!

When I marinate my chicken, I always pound it with a meat tenderizer and cut slits in each piece as well.   Also, I like to marinate chicken for 24 hours.  I loved the flavor of this chicken.  I will be making this combo again.

Honey Soy Chicken Marinade

The Bottom of your honey bottle – or 2-3 tablespoons of honey

4 tablespoons of soy sauce

1 teaspoon minced garlic – fresh or dry

1 teaspoon Chinese Five spice – this is strong, you don’t want to overdo it.

Method: In your almost bottle of honey, add soy sauce, garlic and chinese Five spice.  Shake really well.  Squeeze mixture into a freezer bag or a container with raw chicken.  Marinate in the fridge overnight.  Grill the chicken or prepare the chicken your way.

I really loved this chicken.   It is going into the “rotation”.  I forgot how much I love Chinese Five spice.  I am going to have to break that one out again soon.
