Healthy Salted Caramel Frappe

This Salted Caramel Healthy Frappe has been on my “List of things to make” for quite some time.  My list.  I don’t have access to my master list!   That’s right folks, I am writing to you from my old computer with the cracked screen.  I have not used this computer since my early days of blogging.  My apple should be fixed in a few days though.

Last year, I posted a recipe for a Healthy Coffee Frappe.   It was so delicious and popular, that I decided that this year, I will need to play around with different flavors a bit.  This Salted Caramel Frappe has only 6 ingredients and no added sugar.

One of the things I have been doing lately, is refrigerating my leftover coffee for iced coffee the next day.  This recipe requires your coffee to be cold.  You can always use the cold brew from Trader Joes, but don’t use nearly as much.  Store bought cold brew is very concentrated

The Caramel taste comes from dates.  You will want to soak them overnight.   No sugar is added to this Frappe because enough natural sweetness is achieved with frozen bananas and the dates.

Salted Caramel Frozen Coffee Frappe

Ingredients

2/3 cups of Cold Coffee

1/3 cup of milk ( milk of your choice)

1 frozen banana

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 pitted medjool date- soaked overnight

pinch of salt

Method: Add all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.  drink right away and enjoy!

This turned out really well.  This Frappe solves my post workout dilemma.  More Coffee? or Something Healthy?  Shortly after taking these pictures, I actually poured this right into a travel mug and drank it when I was driving to pick up my son at preschool.

I have not thought of any other healthy coffee frappe flavors as of yet, but who knows?

I have tried many frozen coffee recipes but this is by far the best! I love that the banana makes it unnecessary to use ice cubes which make the texture weird and icy-the banana makes it creamy and healthy but it tastes decadent! Thanks for this recipe since I am not able to go to my favorite local coffee shop because of the corona virus.

I am having trouble finding the medjool dates in my area. Anything that can be substituted for them?

possibly frozen figs. But also, check the dried fruit department for dates there.

Just tried this but when i measured the cold coffee that i had kept overnight in the fridge (with the date soaking in it) i only had 1/3 cup. I used that and the same amounts for the other ingredients as in the recipe. It turned out well. It would have been way too strong for me with 2/3 cup of coffee.

I love this recipe I will actually try it out, but I will use Javita Weight Loss Coffee as my base. Then you can call it Heathier Caramel Frappe. Our coffee is instant, dissolves in cold water, 100% natural, gluten-free, alkaline based so its not acidic and kosher certified.

I soak the dates in water. And I usually buy my dates on amazon. It’s much cheaper.

I love the idea of this and that it has no added sugar. I am saving this to try later.

We do a lot of frappes, instead of cold brew or strong coffee and ice, we just make coffee ice cubes from the left over coffee. This is great tasting also.

Wait … do you realize you just used the word “healthy” in the same breath as “salted” and “caramel”? Just kidding. This sounds delicious.

You had me at healthy. I am a frappe addict but don’t get them often because they are so bad for you!! I love that this one is sugar free!!
