Dehydrated Spinach Popcorn Sprinkle

Dehydrating Spinach, to make your own Spinach popcorn sprinkle is easy to do.  It is a great way to use up spinach that might expire soon AND a fun way to present several servings of vegetables to children.  My husband had to go to China for work.  So I packed up the kiddos and headed to Chicago, to spend some time with my parents.  It is nice having a couple of extra hands helping with my boys.  We had LOTS of Spinach in our fridge to use up before heading out-of-town.  My husband and I had each gone food shopping and had each brought home some of the same things.  Milk, Bread, Bananas and Containers of Spinach.  I hate wasting food.  So I decided to try a little something different with our spinach before heading out-of-town. Last year I purchased a dehydrator for some recipe fun.  I have made garlic zucchini chips and kiwi chips in my food dehydrator.  I thought it would be fun to pull out my dehydrator out to dry spinach.  Then I crinkled the dry spinach up to make popcorn sprinkle. sprinkle4

It’s crazy that about 1/2 of this container of spinach turned into…….sprinkle2

This small bag of dried spinach. You do not need a food dehydrator to dry spinach.  You can also make these oven baked spinach chips  and then just crinkle the spinach up. I didn’t put any olive oil or seasonings on my spinach, but that would be a great idea!  I drizzled some olive oil over my stove top popcorn, then added dried spinach and sea salt. YUM! It was great! My toddler loved snacking on ” Green Popcorn” with me!sprinkle3
