15 Alternatives to ” Potato Fries”

Is there anything more wonderful than a hot, crispy, salty, crunchy french fry dipped in ketchup?

No, I don’t think so.

Forget the basic potato fry.  Here are some ways to eat “healthier” french fries by cutting up vegetables and baking them in the oven.

The best way to get most of these vegetables REALLY crispy is to use a baking pan with a built in rack.  This way, your fries will get REALLY crispy, and you won’t have to turn them.  You will want to get one of these when working with vegetables like green beans, squash and pumpkin.

I have compiled a round-up of ” Alternatives to French Fries”.   15 Non- Potato ways of BAKING vegetables that look like fries but taste  better and are much better for you!

Because don’t we all just want something crispy that we can dip it ketchup?

Thank you for all these alternatives. Wanted to let you know that the link for the butternut squash fries does not work. However, I found it elsewhere, and I have to tell you they were fabulous! I’m going to buy more of the squash today.

  6. These all look great, but is the calorie count that much lower. What is the calorie savings. It’s frying the part that makes it bad? Just wondering.

    • Most of these veggies have a less calories than potatoes. Most of these can actually be baked in the oven. I guess calorie count can vary, depending how much oil is used.

  7. These all look delicious, but they are still fried. Try putting them in the oven with just a little oil and some seasoning, like salt, pepper, cayenne and even oregano.
