There is something so magical about waking up to those big pillowy snowflakes swirling and whirling outside. Every time it snows my kids run downstairs with excitement as if it were the first time they ever saw snow.
My kids always look forward to snow. For me, however, snow is merely an inconvenience piled up on the ground. At this time of year, there always seems to be something inconvenient on the ground when I am trying to get everything ready for the holidays.
Here are a few fun snow day traditions that I started with my kids to keep the day calmer for all of us.
1) Pizza. First. let’s talk about pizza. My kids always look forward to having hot lunches when we are home. Pizza is an excellent snow day tradition. Red Barron pizza has a flaky, crunchy crust and is a meal that pleases my whole family. Available in 11 different flavors from fan-favorite Pepperoni to Chipotle Chicken.
I love my kids’ snow days, but usually by the end of the day some major cabin fever. That is why I always keep some frozen pizzas in the freezer so I can keep things from getting too chaotic.
2. Winter movies- During the holiday season, when it snows, especially that first couple of snows, I love putting on holiday movies for the kids. Watching holiday films just helps us all get into the Christmas spirit, plus it keeps the kids calm for a while. What a great snow day tradition!
Holiday Crafts– Another fun holiday activity to do on a snow day is having your kids write letters and homemade cards to friends and relatives. You don’t need to have ” holiday craft supplies” around, you can just use paper, crayons, and markers. This is an excellent way for kids to use this relaxing time at home for making things to give.
4. Play in the snow!- If it not too cold, let your kiddos play in the snow! My kids don’t generally like to stay out too long but playing in that first snow creates some great memories!
5. Break out the toys! A snow day is a great time to break out those toys that you’re always too busy to play with during the school year. Whether it’s trains, blocks or coloring books. When it’s snowing out
Enjoying a crispy piece of pizza is a great way to warm up on these cold days before the holidays arrive. Check out this store locator on where you can find Red Baron Pizza.
