I am going to share with you one thing I have learned as a parent of three busy boys.
All those store-bought toys don’t get played with nearly as much as you think they will get played with. And it turns out the simplest household items keep my kids the busiest. Sticks, blades of grass, and a table of water are the things that get played with the most during the spring and summer. And during the winter, it is usually cloth napkins, plastic food storage containers, pipe cleaners and masking tape. Kids have such big imaginations, it is important to let them just play. Kids learn so much through role play.
We love playing with masking tape in our house, especially when we are inside due to snowy weather or spring rains. We love making tracks for cars, obstacle courses, and art projects with it. This last week, when we were stuck inside because of an ” ice rain” ( Spring, I know you’re coming soon!) we made these masking tape mazes. What a hit they were!

My kids thought that these masking tape mazes were so much fun to make together and to play with! And of course, they were delighted when I brought out some Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers in order to go through the mazes. It was such fun. My kids love Goldfish® crackers and it is a wholesome snack that everyone agrees on.
Right now, you can get Goldfish® crackers at Walmart, on Rollback for $6.46 (in-store only) for a Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers 30 oz carton. We purchased the Goldfish crackers Cheddar and Goldfish crackers Colors on our most recent Walmart trip!
My boys love lining things up when they play. Especially my six-year-old son. he lined up the Goldfish crackers and slowly moved them all through the maze, it was so much fun to watch him.
My six-year-old son and I created this maze last week during an ” ice rain day” while my younger two sons were napping. It was fun to watch him create this. We used a photo of a maze from one of his coloring books for reference. He is at an age, where I just really love watching what he comes up with.
