Welp, 2017 has come and gone. I watched my new baby ( born at the end of 2016) grow up into a little sweetheart, I sent my oldest off to Kindergarten. I traveled to Napa Valley to celebrate my good friend’s bachelorette party and got to see my oldest friend ( who lives in Alaska) 3 times this year! I saw Hamilton in Chicago, spent the 4th of July in Door County with my family and started my middle son on the cello at our local Suzuki school.
2017 was a great year for this little blog of mine too. I started making food videos for a few of my favorite recipes, received some sponsored post opportunities that I would have only dreamt about a few years ago, and was able to get into a great routine, balancing my freelance workload with family and friends.
So as long as I kept the news off and didn’t look at the President’s tweets, 2017 was a great year!
Before you read the list. Check out my favorites from
Here are my Favorites of 2017
My new sign: My brother and sister-in-law brought me this sign from their neighborhood in Lincoln Square. Because I don’t care who you are or where you stand on the political spectrum. There is no room for hate in this world. We are all in this together. Okay?
Readers Favorite Post– This Round-up I created on what to do with leftover pulled pork was my most read post of the year. Apparently, people have a lot of leftover pulled pork around 🙂
My Favorite Recipe: Although it wasn’t even close to my most popular recipe. I freaking love this roasted carrot soup with ginger!!! It is amazing!
My Favorite Tradition: taking selfies with my baby. Because seriously, this will probably be the last time small babies grace through our household. I am trying to savor every moment!
Favorite Life Improvement- Getting involved in meal prep. It is easy eating healthy lunch and dinners when you have delicious meals waiting for you in your fridge or freezer! Some of my favorite ways to meal-prep are making my Chicken Peanut Noodle Bowls and buying really inexpensive eggs at Aldi and Hard Boiling them for breakfast and lunch.
Favorite date idea- having drinks and playing large Janga with my husband was incredibly fun! I actually ended up coming home and buying my own large Jenga set. As you can see from the photo below, our game became highly competitive.
Favorite Outing: I headed to Napa Valley for a weekend bachelorette trip for one of my good friends from high school. I LOVED catching up with old friends this year. As you might be able to guess from our shirts, it was a Mean Girl themed weekend.
Favorite Salad My copycat Culvers Strawberry Fields Salad.
Favorite Photo – This selfie I took while seeing Hamilton with my Brother, sister-in-law, and husband.
Favorite Dessert- These strawberry sweet rolls I made to celebrate mothers day.
Favorite new Discovery- This Newman’s Own Citrus Splash Salad dressing is officially my favorite new store-bought food item!
I can’t wait to find out what 2018 has in store of me, my family, friends and this little old blog of mine. Happy New Year!
