Friend: ” Hey Kristen, can you give me a quick dinner idea that my kids will like?”
Me: ” Scrambled Eggs.”
Friend: ” But you’re a food blogger! All your food must be fancy all the time!”
Me: ” That was before I had three boys.”
That’s the truth.
But seriously, remember when I had time to make fancy elaborate dinners? Back when my older two boys napped? Before they started music lessons, and swimming lessons. Before they played T-ball, got invited to birthday parties and had to have scheduled play-dates with kids’ from school? I promise you, there was once a time when I didn’t say ” Get off your brother!” 100 times a day.
For real though, eating healthy doesn’t need to take much time. There are a lot of products out there these days that actually help families eat better, even when there is a time crunch.
Take these Sesame-Garlic dinner bowls for example. These dinner bowls are flavorful and delicious. I made this meal in 30 minutes, and I just made a quick slaw using a pre prepared bag of broccoli slaw to complete the meal.
I created this 30- minute meal for four- using this dinner hero meal kit from Revolution Foods. I thought the flavors of this meal were spot-on and really yummy. One reason why I have tended to stay away from dinner kits are because I never feel like they provide enough food for my hungry family. However, the portions in this meal were actually perfect.
Revolution foods was created 10 years ago by two moms who wanted to change the way Americans ate. They have been providing healthy meals in schools for years. You can now buy these awesome dinner kits at Jewel-Osco. These dinner kits are made with only whole grains and contain no artificial colors or flavors.
In addition to providing schools with healthy meals. Revolution Foods also donates 1% of their retail sales to schools, in order to provide children with healthy meals.
Right now, you can obtain a coupon so you can try these delicious dinner kits for yourself!
These Dinner hero kits come in the following flavors.
I made this super fast Ginger-Sesame Slaw to complete this meal. I used a packaged bag of broccoli slaw and added a few of my favorite flavors to give this an Asian flair!
Ginger- Sesame Broccoli Slaw
1 bag of broccoli slaw
teaspoon of ground ginger
3 tablespoons of rice vinegar
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
3 tablespoons of sesame oil
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Method: In a bowl or measuring up, whisk together ginger, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. pour over the broccoli slaw in a bowl and toss. Serve or chill or later.
I really love these dinner kits! a lot. My kiddos really enjoyed the coconut curry one a lot!
