Last year, my mother-in-law came over to our house with a dirt dessert, and it was an instant hit!   There is just something so much fun about eating a dessert that looks like dirt.  ( Have I ever mentioned that I am a boy-mom?)

I decided to make these cute “carrot patch” dirt dessert cups using orange MARS® M&M’S® as the carrots.  I turned the M&M’S® sideways in the dirt cup- so they would look like carrots from the outside.   My family members were amused as they ate these cups.  What a fun way to celebrate Easter!

I used the Peanut Butter M&M’S® from the packets in this  MARS® Mixed Mini Bags – 165 ct – Spring themed bags. from Sam’s Club- these bags are available now!

For more fun Spring and Easter ideas using this candy mix, visit this website.

You can find this by the Easter candy display at Sam’s club!

You can stock up now, to get candy for celebrating “moments” this Easter.  In addition to the mini bags of M&M’S® ,This product also includes mini TWIX®, SNICKERS®, MILKY WAY®, and 3 MUSKETEERS ®.   The 3 MUSKETEERS ® have a special Easter Marshmallow filling!

Check out Sam’s Club’s website to check availability of this product in your area.

These carrot patch dirt dessert cups are easy to make.   I simply made an easy stovetop homemade chocolate pudding, topped the pudding with crushed chocolate cookies and used  the orange M&M’S® and green frosting in order to make the carrot patch.

Carrot Patch Dessert Dirt Cups  Yield’s 6 cups

Ingredients

4 cups of chocolate pudding – recipe follows- or you can use pre made pudding.

10 chocolate sandwich cookies -crushed

20 orange peanut butter M&M’S®

green frosting- I used store bought frosting.

Method:  Fill each cup with 2/3 cup of chocolate pudding.  On top of the pudding, arrange the orange M&M’S® through the clear cups, so that they might look like carrots underground.  top the pudding and M&M’S® with a few tablespoons of crushed cookies.  Using the green frosting, create ” carrot tops” on top of the cookies.  Chill before serving.

Chocolate Pudding

Ingredients

1/4 cup of corn startch

1/4 cup of cocoa powder

1/2 cup of sugar-

1/8 teaspoon of salt

2  & 3/4 cups of milk

1 teaspoon of butter

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.

Method:  In a saucepan, place corn starch, salt, sugar and cocoa powder.  whisk together.  Turn on heat and add milk.  keep whisking.  Add vanilla extract and keep whisking.  Once the mixture has thickened, add butter and whisk while the butter melts.  Remove pudding form heat.

This was such a fun dessert to make!  I can’t wait to make it again when the weather gets nicer!  Don’t forget to pick up your own bag of MARS® Mixed Mini Bags – 165ct – Spring themed bags.  Also don’t forget to check out all the adorable spring tutorials here.
