Its a new year and a new beginning. I am keeping healthy this year by working out 3-5 times a week and trying to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible. Do you know what I love after a really hard workout? A treat! ( I know.)
I love making smoothie freezer pops ahead of time for when I want a treat. These Key-Lime Pie Freezer Pops have a low amount of added sugar, have added veggies, and contain lots of other beneficial nutrients. They are also delicious.
These smoothie pops are Dairy-Free and Lactose-Free.
Silk’s Dairy-Free Yogurt and Silk’s Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk made wonderful additions to these smoothie pops. I love using almond milk in my smoothies- less calories that way. Plus, Silk’s dairy-free yogurt is filled with 6 grams of soy protein per serving. Silk Yogurt is made from plants instead of dairy. There are no artificial colors or flavors in either of these products. I love that.
If you are a frequent reader of this blog, then you know that I Love Silk’s products. I use them all the time in my recipes. You can visit Wal-Mart’s website to see all of the varieties of Silk Products that they carry. You can also visit Silk’s Website for more fun ideas.
You can find Silk Almond Milk and Silk Yogurt in the Dairy section at Wal-Mart. The Dairy section is in the very back of the food area.
These Key Lime Pie Freezer Pops are super easy. You just make a smoothie- and then freeze the smoothie in popcicle molds. I prefer silicone popcicle molds. The popcicles just pop right out of them.
Key Lime Pie Green Smoothie Freezer Pops – Yield’s 8 freezer pops
1-2 cups of spinach or kale – I used a spinach and kale blend
1 vanilla Silk dairy-free yogurt
1 cup of Silk unsweetened Almond Milk
zest and juice of one large Key Lime- or two limes, depending on how tart you want yours.
Method: In a blender, mix banana, greens, yogurt, almond milk, lime juice and lime zest. Pour the mixture into popcicle molds and freeze for 3-4 hours. when frozen, pop out of popcicle mold and enjoy.
- Note – this combo also makes a delicious smoothie. In order to make this flavor into a smoothie, use a frozen banana instead.
This popcicle is often requested by my four year old. He is always asking for the ” Lime Green One”. He has no idea that it is filled with greens. ( what can I say? I am sneaky! ) This is also sweet, tangy, citrusy and refreshing. It is the perfect post workout treat.
