I have made slow cooker BBQ Pulled Chicken sandwiches A LOT lately.
It’s easy, my family loves it. PLUS I have loaded my sandwiches with pickles. I have been on a pickle kick lately. ( and NO, I am not pregnant. that’s not funny, right now, so don’t even ask.)
I really do enjoy BBQ pulled chicken, but for the longest time I just didn’t have a ” go to” recipe for it. It’s funny, because people put all sorts of food products in their BBQ pulled chicken. Beer, Dr Pepper, Vinegar, ketchup. You name it, I have seen it added to BBQ pulled chicken.
I saw on this blog where you add Italian Dressing to BBQ Pulled Chicken. What a great idea! I wanted to try it! But Instead of Brown Sugar, i added Molasses. I thought that the Molasses would add a richer flavor to the dish.
Slow Cooker- Molasses Pulled BBQ Chicken
2 lbs of Boneless-Skinless Chicken Breasts
1 cup of your favorite BBQ Sauce
1/2 cup of Italian Dressing ( you can use store-bought or make your own)
1/3 cup of molasses
Procedure: MIX the BBQ sauce, Italian dressing and molasses in a measuring cup or bowl. Place chicken in your slow cooker on low and pour the sauce on top of it. Cook on low for 8 hours. About 4 hours in, take chicken out, shred it up and put it back in the crock pot.
YEP! It’s THAT easy!
I think this is my new favorite BBQ chicken. I must say the recipes that call for Root Beer, ketchup and what not have never worked out for me. They weren’t BAD, those other recipes just were not ” IT” . This is it!
You can also add hidden veggies to this if you want. Shredded carrot, shredded zucchini or chopped spinach “hide” easily in loose meats.
BBQ Chicken sandwiches really do please everyone. I love it when I find a new crock pot meal my family loves!
